Arkeisha Antoinette Knight (born March 14, 1992), known professionally as Kash Doll, is an American model and rapper signed to Republic Records. She is best known for her single "For Everybody" which was released on March 14, 2017 and garnered over 10 million views on YouTube prior to her record deal. Kash Doll is an opening performer for Meek Mill's 2019 The Motivation Tour.
Early life
Kash Doll was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. The oldest of six siblings, she began working at a young age to help her single mother support their family. She wanted to rap since she was a child and began to try to freestyle and write raps from youth.
For one year, she attended Henry Ford College with a concentration in business management. She left school early to work at the strip club to support her family financially. While working at strip clubs. she would rap and earn money from customers without having to dance. She once made $26,000 in a single night. After deciding to pursue a music career, she quit dancing.
She adopted the moniker Kash Doll because she is focused on achieving financial success and because she dresses like a “Doll".
Career
At the beginning of her career, Kash Doll gained prominence in the Detroit area by performing in local clubs and at schools and doing charity events. Kash Doll would later sign a deal with a local record company in Detroit. After it fell through she began to use social media and Instagram heavily to build a following by releasing short videos of herself rapping. After someone saw one of her Instagram videos, she was paid for a feature and then invited to open for Chief Keef. She currently has over 2.7 million followers. Rihanna invited her to hang out based on Kash Doll's Instagram page. In addition, Drake used Instagram to invite her to open a show for him on his Summer Sixteen tour stop in Detroit.
Kash Doll first received national attention when she remixed Tinashe's single "2 On" in 2015. She then released a video for a single called "Run Me My Money", which went viral in 2015. That same year she dropped her mixtape, Keisha vs Kash Doll.
In December 2017, Kash Doll appeared on her first feature on a major record when she appeared on Big Sean and Metro Boomin's single "So Good." After being released from her previous deal, on July 16, 2018 she dropped an EP called The Vault on streaming platforms. One music video from the EP, "For Everybody," received over 10 million views on YouTube.
She released a mixtape called Brat Mail on her birthday in 2018. It was dedicated to her fans, who she refers to as "bratz." It was 22 minutes long and received positive critical reviews. Brian Josephs at Pitchfork.com wrote, "Brat Mail often feels like a victory lap run before the official race has even started. There’s a self-congratulatory vibe that makes the effort needlessly low stakes, ultimately refracting her natural charisma in ways that sound rote." In August 2018, Kash Doll signed a record deal with Republic Records. She then released her first single as a part of that deal, "Ice Me Out." She released a track called "Chanel Slides" with rapper Dreezy in January 2019, and then a released a remix of "Ice Me Out" featuring 2 Chainz in February 2019.
Kash Doll released a single called "Hustla” in April 2019, which highlights her experiences from working at strip clubs. She stated that she is trying to awareness for and advocate on behalf of the women in that industry.
On June 7th, 2019, Kash Doll released a new single titled, "Kitten" that features American rapper, Lil Wayne.
Kashdoll features on Australian rapper Iggy Azalea's new single "F**k it up" from Azalea's 2019 studio album, In My Defense.
Kashdoll has teased her upcoming project on social media and in interviews. The project is slated to drop in July 2019 with collaborations including Lil Wayne and Big Sean.
