by David JeffriesThe Americana/alt-country sound of Red Thread came about when Jason Lakis' last band, Half Film, broke up in 2002. Six months of writing in isolation and Lakis had enough music for an album. With friends from various Bay Area bands -- including the Inspectors, whom with he had played percussion -- Lakis recorded Red Thread's debut, After the Last, released by Badman in early 2003. After a bunch of positive press, a national tour, and a couple new friends to add to the band, Red Thread returned with Tension Pins in 2004. Ship in the Attic, Birds in the Subway followed in August the next year.
