Antoine made Atlanta Jazz history by becoming the first independent artist to be picked up by a Radio One station with his debut CD " iN the Red". This was made official with an interview on the smooth jazz station WJZZ107.5FM, and a live show at The Atlanta Wings Fest. Since release of his debut album, Antoine has played and opened for Vesta, Najee, Kim Waters, and "Threekeys" recording artist and CEO Marcus Johnson. A native Florida, Antoine plays with raw energy and is well know for his interaction with the audience. In high school, Antoine played in the marching band and the symphonic band but lost interest in the sax after high school. In college he attended Florida A & M University (A school well known for its outstanding music program). He was asked to try out for the Marching 100 but he declined the offer to play baseball. After receiving his B.S. in engineering, Antoines passion for the sax reawakened when he visited a college buddy in Atlanta. The spot was The A Train where he met the Professor of Music" at Morehouse College saxophonist Rod Smith. Antoine studied jazz theory under Rod briefly and began appearing in local jam session at Atlantas Café 290 while playing gospel at New Birth Missionary Church under the music leadership of Byron Cage. Antoine got his first big break when he was hired by producer Norman Connors to play for Angela Bo field and Jean Carne. An events coordinator later discovered Antoine and his band at a downtown restaurant. The performances led him to a deal with the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome from 2000 -2002. Antoine played in front of thousands and wowed the crowd with his funky- jazzy style. In 2004, Antoine released his debut CD iN the Red". The CD received national recognition and aired in over 45 cities across the country. Antoine Knight is proud to be a Yamaha (YAS62) and L.A. Sax performing artist. He is a Major in the US Army Reserve Command. He is married to Sylvia with two children and lives in Hampton, GA.
