Genie (君怡; born June 24, in Singapore) is a singer-songwriter, recording artist, celebrity-blogger, emcee in Singapore
Graduating from the Faculty of Accountancy of Nanyang Technological University, Genie become a certified youth counselor before emerging as a singer. Besides singing, Genie also composes, writes lyrics, arranges music, dances and plays a variety of music instruments. Before starting to concentrate music, Genie did a stint in modeling, acting and compere work.
In 2003, she started her own music school.
That same year, Genie was invited to sing for Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew’s 80th birthday party. Also that year, she started to compose and record her own songs, resulting in her debut album, “Genie's Mood Diary 君怡 - 心情日记” released in June 2005. She is the first singer in Singapore to use her blog to launch an album of songs reaching out to the young as “Genie's Mood Diary 君怡 - 心情日记” contains a repertoire of songs inspired by, and based on, daily entries from her blog. The album won her a nomination for the Singapore Hit Awards 2005 - Media Recognition Award - New Local Artiste。
