He was born in Athens in 1916. He started music studies in 1941 at the National Conservatory. As a student he played in performances at the Athens Theater. He first appeared as a soloist in the role of Borsa [Rigoletto] (1942). He first appeared at the GNO as Jaquino and Prisoner [Fidelio] (Herodeion, 1944), in the performance with Maria Callas. In 1949 he won a scholarship and went to Italy to study at the Academy of Santa Cecilia (Rome). During the period 1950-1952 he appeared under the stage name Giulio Bardi in Sardinia, in the Municipal Theater and the Theater of the Florentine May Festival, where he sang next to Maria Callas in the opera The Sicilian Vespers (I vespri siciliani), as well as in Moscow and Leningrad. During the twenty year period 1944 - 1964, he collaborated with the GNO in about 60 productions and/or revivals, appearing in 24 operas and five operettas. He sang leading and principal tenor roles, such as: Radamès [Aida], Don Alvaro [The Power of Fate/La Forza del destino], Nemorino [The elixir of love/L'elisir d'amore], Don Jose [Carmen], Edgardo [Lucia di Lammermoor], Pinkerton [Madama Butterfly], Rodolfo [La Bohéme], Ismael [Nabucco], Canio [Pagliacci], Hoffman [The Tales of Hoffman/Les preservation order d'Hoffmann], Enzo [La Gioconda], Alfredo [La Traviata], Manrico [The Trobadour/Il Trovatore], Faust [Faust], etc. He also sang in operettas. He participated in several premieres of basic repertoire works at the GNO, as well as in the world premieres of the Greek works Kassiani by Sklavos (1959/60) and Sunrise [Anatoli] by Kalomiris (1945/46). His perfromances are available in live and studio recordings (Myto, Cetra, Allegro Royale). He died in Athens on 5/9/1964.
