Me N Ma Girls are Burma’s first original all-girl group. The group is led by the talented performers, Ah Moon and Kimi, with background dancers / vocalists for support. The girls have been together for over three years now. Rehearsing in a run down old house in downtown Yangon, and keen to have a voice and make a difference to the world, they’ve performed for dignitaries, members of parliament, and major venues throughout Southeast Asia and the United States. The girls are now working with Power Music Inc. and a variety of major producers in the U.S. and have just released, on iTunes, their first western style song, “Girl Strong.” While they are working to expand themselves into a global force, their hearts will be forever anchored to Myanmar.
While each of the girls has a unique story, they share the same core values; strong ties to family and getting a college education. Ah Moon has a degree in languages (she speaks fluent Japanese, French, English, Burmese, and Russian) and Kimi has a degree in Mathematics.
The girls forever stress unity and equal rights for all. When you meet the the girls, you discover how issues such as ethnic or religious differences can be set aside though the bonds developed by music, and creating a sisterhood that is the Me n Ma girls.
