Amrita began her singing career at the age of 5. Her father Nandu Bhende was one of India's finest Rock singers. Nandu recognised Amrita's precocious talent for singing and trained her in the finer nuances of signing. Amrita began her career singing jingles for TV commercials and has sung the signature tunes for jingles most Indians have grown up with including jingles for some of India's biggest brands like Maggi, Rasna, Bakeman's biscuits, Melody chocolates, Eclairs, Dalda, Cadbury's Gems, Nutramul and Swad that was sung in 7 different languages. Amrita also was a host for a popular T.V singing show. She took an an active interest in theatre and acting professionally. She acted in Janak Toprani's Joe Egg and Hima Devi's Tabula Rasa. She was also a part of the film on Nehru by Sai Paranjpe. 　　She has over 3 albums, Hi-Ho, a nursery rhyme album, Diwali Diwali and HMV'S "KAUN HAI WOH" in 1997 to her credit. Amrita was nominated for the MTV Best Newcomer Award for this album and shared the stage with Bon Jovi and Peter Andre. She was 'the artiste of the month' for "The Good Morning Show" on Star Plus in December '97. She performed at the Spring Festival in Korea where she represented India along with her father.
