Volker Höh is one of the most versatile and interesting German guitarists of the present time. As a soloist in recital, with orchestras and in chamber music formations he is at home on international concert and festival stages. His artistic significance is shown by the numerous radio recordings and television productions in which he has appeared, as well as by the many works which renowned composers have written for and dedicated to him. Volker Höh, born in 1959 in Altenkirchen, Pfalz, studied at the Musikhochschulen in Koblenz (Susanne Schoeppe) and Münster (Reinbert Evers). He also took international master classes with Julian Bream, Leo Brouwer, Alberto Ponce, José Tomas, and the pianist György Sebök. He has awarded many stipends and grants. Along with his teaching activities at the Universität Koblenz and the Landesmusikgymnasium Rheinland-Pfalz, he also is active as a recognised editor and author of guitar literature, offers seminars at Musikhochschulen and international festivals and judges competitions. With his own guitar ensemble "cantomano" he has won many prizes at national and international competitions, including the prize of the Deutscher Orchesterwettbewerb 2004 and 2008. He performs on many highly acclaimed CDs, often with thematically structured concert programs, from contemporary music to Spanish Latin American music but also including classical repertoire, some of which is played on historical instruments. These recordings demonstrate the great stylistic flexibility, the musical sensitivity and fine sense of acoustical aesthetics of this musician. These include CD recordings and film productions of the RSO Frankfurt under conductors such as Michael Gielen, Eliahu Inbal, Dmitrij Kitajenko and Marcello Viotti.
