Peter-Philipp Staemmler was born in 1986 in Mühlhausen / Thuringia. He is the youngest of a family of church musicians and began his first cello lessons at the age of 6.
Since 2005 he has studied under Prof. Troels Svane at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music, Berlin and got his Konzertexam there in 2010.
Important artistic influences for Peter-Philipp have come from master classes with Natalia Gutman and Anner Bylsma.
Peter Philipp Staemmler received numerous awards and honors at competitions, including the 2nd Prize at the Concours de Genève in 2008, the Prize of the German Music Competition in 2009 (duo cello / piano), in addition to an annual grant from the German Foundation of Musical Life. Also his strong interest in contemporary music has already earned him several awards including the winner of the Hanns Eisler Prize for Interpretation of Contemporary Music in 2008 and the International Cello Competition for Contemporary Music in Stuttgart 2007.
Peter-Philipp's musical prowess has led him to play with many orchestras in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, as a chamber and orchestral musician, he has performed in almost every country in Europe, in Africa and in South America.
