Hamburg-born violinist Hellen Weiß started her extensive performing career at the age of 16. As a soloist she has performed with leading orchestras such as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra and the North Bohemia Philharmonic Orchestra in renowned concert venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Berliner Philharmonie, Rudolfinum Prague and Berwaldhallen Stockholm.   In 2004 she won First Prize at the International Radio Competition for Young Musicians ‘Concertino Praga’. Furthermore she received the EMCY Art for Music Prize, the Eduard Söring Prize and, as a pianist, the Steinway Prize. She regularly performs at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Heidelberger Frühling and the German Forum, New York. She has also participated in the chamber music project ‘Young Artists and Friends’ with members of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Her solo and chamber music performances have been broadcast by radio and TV stations worldwide.   Hellen Weiß studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi, Nora Chastain and Rainer Kussmaul. She teaches at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden and has given masterclasses in Germany, Spain, South Korea and New Zealand. Since 2017 Hellen Weiß has been artistic director of the VIVO! Musikfestival Hamburg. She plays a Matteo Goffriller violin from 1698, a generous loan from a private collection.
