Mezzo soprano Rachel Frenkel graduated at the Buchmann- Mehta School of music in Tel Aviv.   She was a member of the studio of the Staatsoper Berlin Unter den Linden for the seasons 09/10 and 10/11 and during that period she already performed several roles on the main stage in Berlin such as Mercédès in Carmen, Siebel in Gounod’s Faust, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, and Zaida in Rossini’s Il turco in Italia.Since 2011 she apears regularly at the Staatsoper in Vienna, where she sings the roles of Rosina (The Berber of Seville), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Cherubino, An­gelina (La Cenerentola), and Fenena (Nabucco).   Much in demand on the opera-stage some of Ms. Frenkel’s recent engagements include Rosina at the Staatstoper Berlin with Daniel Barenboim conducting, Ramiro in Mozart´s La Finta Giardiniera at the Glyndebourne Festival, Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos at Staatsoper Hamburg, Dorabella and Rosina at the Dresden- Semperoper, and Idamante in Idomeneo at the Lille Opera.   She performed her signature-role of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Berlin Staatsoper and opera Montpellier.   At the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden she apeared as Dryade with Christian Thielemann conducting and at the Salzburg Festival as Stimme des Falken in Die Frau ohne Schatten conducted by Christian Thielemann and as Mercédès in Carmen under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle.   As a concert singer, her recent highlights include a.o. Bach's Magnificat with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Ton Koopman as well as Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater with Camerata Salzburg, Bernstein's 1st Symphony with the NHK Symphony Orchestra in Tokyo and Mahler's Rückert Lieder with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra in Osaka.   She sang Mozart´s Requiem with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra and Rossini´s Petite Messe Solennelle at the concertgebouw in Amsterdam.   Highlights for the 2014/15 season include Nicklaus in Les Contes d´Hoffmann at the Bregenz Festival, Cherubino in Edinburgh Fstival and at the Chicago Lyric opera and the part of Gemma in the opera Dante by Benjamin Godard with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.
